It's exactly like the other DP wait_for_pipe_off bugs insofar that you have an
eDP panel connected to the pch. That's physically the same routing as is used
for external DP screens. Laptops eDP panels usually are connected to the cpu
die directly and also don't seem to suffer from this issue. We don't seem to
have a dupe yet here on kernel bz, but there's one on the freedesktop bugzilla
