In short, no.

This appears to be more about the DP link speed than color depth. We seem to
fail at 1.62 GHz DP link, which is where we end up with 18 bpp. The VBT also
kindly tells us to use 1.62 GHz. The BIOS itself, on the other hand, happily
boots the display at 2.7 GHz and 24 bpp...
