Thanks, Chris, I learnt a lot in the process.

I can confirm this fixes the problem with bare X, but unfortunately I cannot
for XFCE. Latest patches in git break it and I'm thrown to my display manager,
LightDM, everytime I start XFCE.

I'll wait to the next stable release of the driver. Thanks again.
