Tested the kernel-ml-4.14 with intel-fixes-2014-04-11.

   - no change in behavior re: resume from suspend
   - no change in xrandr output i.e. no detection of VGA port
   - no change in WARNING/backtrace.

I will start on binary searching the historical kernels and will report back
