I concur with Daniel - I don't think the WARNING has anything to do with the
resume.

There are a few things that could be tried. Please boot without loading i915.
Suspend/resume and see if it works. If it works, load i915 and try again. If it
fails, it confirms if the problem really is in i915.

Please enable drm.debug=0xe module parameter. Do a suspend/resume with i915.
See if the machine responds to ping. Ssh into the machine and grab the dmesg
and attach here.
