I can definitely do that if that's your preferred course of action. 

This will mean that smaller number of people will be hitting the bug and hence
being available to test proper fixes (hopefully the dmesg from comment #89 will
provoke some idea?). 

OTOH, I will always be here to test any patches to have a final fix, so if
that's enough for you, then fine :)
