@Chris: this is technically a workaround, but one of the XBMC (I refuse to
refer to it by its new baby-toy name) devs just made a patch where it uses
XMoveWindow after mapping to force XBMC to the desired position. 

I tested it moments ago and it worked brilliantly.

I am unsure if the behaviour we are seeing potentially affects other software
trying to bind to a specific output port, but I thought I'd let you know in
case you check out this branch (FernetMenta's) - or the master branch after the
PR has been approved - and it works. :-)
