OK, after I finally bashed my way past a bunch of other bugs, can confirm what
others report: reverting "re-enable hotplug detect based probing on VLV/BYT"
'fixes' this for me too, and I can get KMS console and X by forcing an 800x1280
video mode after reverting that patch,

I'll open a new bug for the problem with auto-detecting the mode.
