Ok. I've done switching resolution with xrandr.
Sometimes it's bad-quality, sometimes it comes back to ok.
I still have a blinking line on the top.
In console I have more lines (both vertical and horizontal) that blinks, and
sometimes even blocks full of garbage that blinks with real video content.
Maybe the content of a double buffer?
The blinking is not regular.

How could that be so erratic? But it seems you pinpoint where the bug could be.
