Summary: [HD4600] DVI does not support dual-link
        QA Contact: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Severity: normal
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux (All)
          Reporter: a.nielsen at shikadi.net
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
            Status: NEW
           Version: XOrg CVS
         Component: DRM/Intel
           Product: DRI

I am attempting to connect a Dell 3007WFP (2560x1600) to an Intel HD Graphics
4600 DVI port.

It works fine at low resolutions, but as soon as I try the monitor's native
resolution of 2560x1600 the monitor displays a black picture, and every few
seconds flashes white. The monitor buttons generally don't work while this is
happening, as if the monitor is trying to sync to a mode and failing.

Connecting the same monitor and cable to an nVidia card on a different PC works
fine at 2560x1600. The screen displays the UEFI boot process fine, and the
picture only drops out once the kernel attempts to change mode to the native
resolution. Loading X does not change anything, unless I use xrandr to set a
lower resolution, in which case I do get a picture again.

Given that lower resolutions work, I am wondering whether the driver does not
correctly implement dual-link DVI? Is this correct?

Is there anything else I can try in case I have configured something
incorrectly? I have tried adding alternate modelines to my X config, and the
ones for 2560x1600 with GTF timing are rejected completely, while other ones
with tighter timing are accepted but still don't give me a picture on the
screen.
