I appreciate the suggestion very much, and I'd like to try it.  Although I've
been a Linux user for more than 10 years on several older machines, and have
edited grub on occaision, I'm not expert enough to implement your advice.  Can
you be more specific on exactly which files I should edit, etc.  In reality,
I'm a near-noob.  By the way, I'm running with UEFI enabled (not Legacy) and
Secure Boot disabled.
