Sorry for the delay in answering the last questions. Unfortunately, it is not
completely easy for me because of two reasons:
a) I'm not everyday in the location where I can try the laptop with the
attached monitor;
and, most important
b) The bug only happens if in the list
1) Laptop on.
2) Connect an external monitor via displayport
-> the external monitor is detected.
3) Suspend laptop
4) Detach external monitor
5) Resume laptop after some time and immediately attach external monitor via
display port or attach external monitor via displayport
-> the external monitor is NOT DETECTED, xrandr only shows the laptop panel
a lot of time passes between 4 and 5. For some weird reason if I try the steps
in a quick sequence, the external monitor is detected.
This makes me suspicious about the way in which the system verifies the
presence of an interrupt storm. In fact
suspend -> resume [ no interrupt storm detected ]
suspend -> ... a lot of time ... -> resume [ interrupt storm detected ]
Another note: when the problem occurs, it is enough to wait exactly 2 minutes
to make it go away. Unfortunately, this is too much when you need to give a
presentation and the audience is waiting.
Last working kernel I tested is 3.8.x.
Unfortunately, I cannot test 3.9 and 3.10 on this machine which is a workplace
laptop.
