Hello,
I have the same problem, maybe I can contribute with some more data to solve
this.

If I can provide any more data, let me know how and I will.

OS: Ubuntu 10.13 (GNOME) + apt-get upgrade

Hardware:
Lenovo docking station Thinkpad Ultradock
Lenovo x240 (only VGA and mini DP output)

Behaviour regarding screens/docking stations:

1)
Docking station connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via HDMI<->HDMI to an LCD screen.
OS loaded(booted) , user logged in.
Result:
When I dock the laptop screen freezes, nothing moves, I dont see anything I
type.
When I undock the laptop everything unfreezes and I see everything I've typed
when it was frozen. I can repeat it all the time.

2)
Docking station connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via DiplayPort<->DVI to an LCD screen.
OS loaded(booted) , user logged in
Result:
Same as above

3)
Docking station connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via DiplayPort<->DVI to an LCD screen.
I dock the laptop when its off and then start it.
Result:
Initial sequence visible, then screen goes blank (backlight on).
When I undock it I see user login screen.Operational.

4)
Docking station connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via HDMI<->DVI to an LCD screen.
I dock the laptop when its off and then start it.
Result:
Same as above

5)
Docking station NOT connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via HDMI<->HDMI to an LCD screen.
Result:
When I dock the laptop it do not freezes, remains operational but nothing
happens with the screen.

6)Docking station NOT connected to AC adapter.
Docking station connected via DVI<->HDMI to an LCD screen.
Result:
Same as above.

7) Connecting laptop directly thru miniDP or VGA was not tested yet.

Best Regards
Jacek
