I noticed that one of my attachments was bogus: the Xorg log was from an older
run. I was really using xorg-video-intel 2.21.15-2+b2 from Debian jessie.

Following your advice, I'm trying xorg-video-intel 2:2.2:2.99.914-1~exp1 from
Debian experimental, and so far it seems to work much better !

I see that Ubuntu is using very recent Intel video drivers, but that Debian
unstable is still at 2.21.15-2. Perhaps they should upgrade.
