xf86-video-intel will build and install by itself (just use apt-get build-dep
xserver-xorg-video-intel to install the headers required to build the ddx).

The new issue being that you don't see the background flicker? That sounds like
a good thing! Or to confirm that it is DRI3 upsetting glxinfo? For the later,
that should be a separate bug report (as it is a mesa bug) but only file after
checking for updates.
