Firstly, passing snd_hda_intel.power_save_controller=0 doesn't seem to make any
difference. Is that right, or does it have to be
snd-hda-intel.power_save_controller?

I obtained the data you suggested in working (i915.disable_power_well=0
drm.debug=0x0e) and nonworking (drm.debug=0x0e) cases, anyway. I did the tests
with the monitor (it is actually a TV) attached and configured with xrandr.
Results are attached, as well as the script I used.
