I just got a very interesting piece of information from a friendly member of
the German thinkpad-forum.de:

It looks like  Ville Syrjälä has already fixed the issue with the suspend
problems on i830, but the fix is not in the mainline kernel. Here is the link

The fix did not help that user with his suspend problems on R31, but may be it
will work on my X30? 

May be you guys could tell me what patches are worth applying to see if it
helps?
