Priority: medium
Bug ID: 76246
Assignee: chris at chris-wilson.co.uk
Summary: Google hangout video flickers/blanks
QA Contact: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: mar.kolya at gmail.com
Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
Version: git
Component: Driver/intel
Product: xorg
I have an Linux Mint Petra (i.e. Ubuntu Saucy) on a desktop with Intel X4500
integrated graphics (G41).
I installed Google Hangout plugin in Firefox. When I try to make a video call
in google hangout the video flickers (or blanks, not sure what would be correct
term). If I do not move the mouse I see mostly black screen and sometimes see
video. If I constantly move the mouse I see video which sometimes blanks.
Some details:
- The bug appears in both nightly FF and stable FF but doesn't seem to appear
in chromium.
- The bug does appear in Oibaf ppa (2:2.99.910+git1403141930.8cc) but doesn't
not appear in stock version of xorg/graphics drives that come with Saucy.
- I've filed a bug with Mozilla:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=984177 but the fact that bug
doesn't seem to be reproducible with older Intel driver suggests that FF might
not be completely at fault.
- I use Oibaf ppa because Saucy's stock xorg is not exactly usable on this
hardware due to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55500 and the fact
that TearFree doesn't see to work there and without TearFree life if very ugly.
- Yes, I use TearFree, but this bug is reproducible without it.
I would greatly appreciate if somebody would be interested in looking into
this issue. I have a feeling it might be related to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55500 somehow...
I would be happy to provide any additional information and test anything on
the hardware.
Thanks!
