Yeah I don't defer the whole suspend, just the mode set part.  And that gets
synchronized later on (or at suspend if we suspend again that fast), but as
part of a sync_work() call rather than a sync on the whole resume.

For the panics, do you have any logs?  I didn't see panics here on my MBA when
testing, but I probably have a different config than you.
