I followed a recommendation at
https://johnlewis.ie/tentative-fixwork-around-for-i915-gpu-hangs/ to set some
i915 and drm options in the kernel cmdline and at first glace it seems to help.

If I'll drop the default values from the given list then the options are:
drm.vblankoffdelay=1 i915.semaphores=0 i915.modeset=1 i915.use_mmio_flip=1
i915.enable_ppgtt=1 i915.reset=0 i915.lvds_use_ssc=0
