Perhaps your process is called X, not Xorg. You can take a look at "ps ax" and
manually grab the pid to use above.

Indeed. That sort of ties in with it not appearing to freeze inside the
graphics driver... Could you try finding the right /proc/<pid>/stack and/or
attaching gdb and getting a backtrace?
