I might be cross posting. The bug I have reported here, may or may not be
related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83423

This latter bug is affecting more often now and is predictably reproducible. 
Before I reported I had downloaded and installed the latest Intel Drivers for
my Mobile GM965/GL960 Graphics Controller, and have installed Linux Kernel
3.17.

I will try with the latest RC as you suggest and let you know.
