Recently, Slackware upgraded its XFree video driver to
xf86-video-intel-2.99.914, which it would seem also suffers from the same bug
affecting the kernel console driver.  In particular, after the monitor is
powered off due to keyboard inactivity, it will not unblank / power on.

Fortunately, my kernel is patched to fix this bug; a Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a
console awakens the dongle-connected monitor, followed by a Ctrl-Alt-F7 to get
back to X11.
