I also could not reproduce it under metacity, but that was only a very quick
dry, so it might simply not have occured yet.

I could reproduce the window resizing bug I mentioned in the previous comment
under metacity with compositing enabled, though.

So it seems like this may be a special combination of dependencies in Debian
causing the issue (versions and/or patches).
