--- Comment #2 from Ville Syrjala <ville.syrjala at linux.intel.com> ---
[ 0.933836] [drm:parse_lfp_panel_data] Found panel mode in BIOS VBT tables:
[ 0.933849] [drm:drm_mode_debug_printmodeline] Modeline 0:"1024x576" 0 42200
1024 1072 1104 1184 576 579 584 593 0x8 0xa
That means the BIOS is really telling us its a 1024x576 panel, not a 1024x600
panel. So either there are two models of the machine with different sized
panels or the advertisement hasn't been entirely truthful for this machine.
Nothing we can do to change that. But you can of course go for the the xrandr
tricks to add a custom 1024x600 (or whatever) mode. It'll be downscaled so not
best quality wise, but at least you can fir a bit more on the screen. I might
imagine this is what Windows could be doing if it pretends to have a 1024x600
display.
Also you can try to reduce font size and whatnot in your desktop environment
settings to make stuff a bit smaller and so fit more of it on screen.
