I am using the oibaf ppa that compils latest intel driver
I am using Ubuntu 14.10 with 3.16.0-29 kernel and Xorg 1.16.0-1ubuntu1.2 and a
HD 4000 with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git1501131931.b7feec~gd~u

I can't reproduce it but it happens from time to time since 1 month or even
more

ssh into the machine and run export DISPLAY=:0 && unity --replace used to work
but anymore, now I restart Xorg with service lightdm restart after switch to
console
