That error is unrelated to the GPU hang and display death, and it should be
fixed in 3.18+ (the error here relates to keeping the displays active whilst we
do the KMS takeover). The hang whilst browsing is a known mesa bug, for which
there should be a patch in mesa.git worth testing:
