@Hans: thanks for the proposal, I managed to build one myself.

@Aaron: so I applied your patch on top of Fedora Rawhide's kernel
(4.1.0-0.rc7.git0) and booted with the video.use_native_backlight=1 kernel
parameter (in order to have the backlight off after resume).

In this situation, closing and reopening the lid still turns the backlight on
(as if the patch had no effect). I saw these kernel messages after resume (not
sure if they were also there before):
