I'm affected, too. I can't say exactly when this has started, but when I plug
in external monitors and want to extend to them, X crashes and I see this in
dmesg:

uncleared fifo underrun on pipe B

pipe B FIFO underrun

Strangely enough, mirroring works without problems.

I have a ThinkPad T440p, Linux 4.0.2 and Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710MQ CPU @
2.50GHz. I use UEFI too. I'm willing to provide more info if needed.
