My system hung when using chromium and I got this in dmesg. I hope this helps!

[15203.320448] [drm] stuck on render ring
[15203.322114] [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 8:0:0xef9ffffd, in chromium [1721],
reason: Ring hung, action: reset
[15203.322118] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx
stack, including userspace.
[15203.322120] [drm] Please file a _new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org
against DRI -> DRM/Intel
[15203.322122] [drm] drm/i915 developers can then reassign to the right
component if it's not a kernel issue.
[15203.322124] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so
please always attach it.
[15203.322127] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error
