I found something....

I took a closer look at what mplayer was doing. It tries to use vdpau for
accelerated video playback. However that failed and it fell back to XV.

A bit of googling pointed at libvdpau-va-gl1, which i did not have installed.
Installing that, vdpau gets translated to VA, and accelerated video decode
works and no more stack trace.

My guess is, whatever mplayer is doing when vdpau fails is causing the stack
trace? So you might be able to reproduce the issue by removing libvdpau-va-gl1?

I will let you decide if you want to set this as resolved, or if you want to
try to dig deeper now that you might be able to reproduce it.
