Here is the technical documentation of MCDP28x0 chip used:

It states to support HBR Audio via 2 channels and 768 khz. While HD-Audio
Standard does not explicitely talk about channels when talking about HD-Audio,
it is common to transmit HD-Audio with 192 khz and 8 channels.

If this converter wants this explicitely transfered in 2 channel 768 khz (same
bandwidth) perhaps this need to be mapped properly, e.g. setting its clock to
768 khz and transmitting the input signal 2 channel size wise?

Just an idea to bring this bug here to the next level.
