There is no "z170 gaming-itx/ac" from ASUS.

There's only a Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac.

And it is from ASRock, not from ASUS, see:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z170%20Gaming-ITXac/

So, why do you say ASUS when it clearly is from ASRock?

Anyway, ASRock even has a firmware update available for the MegaChips MCDP2800
LSPCON on the Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac, see:

http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/TSD/TheGuildofsupporting4kx2k@60Hz.pdf

It is available for download from:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z170%20Gaming-ITXac/?cat=Download&os=All

If you look into the Config.ini of that firmware update tool, you can clearly
see that it is updating the firmware of the MegaChips MCDP2800 LSPCON.

AFAICT, the firmware can only be upgraded from within Windows though (i.e. not
from Linux).

Regards
