--- Comment #29 from Dimitrios Liappis <dimitrios.liappis at gmail.com> ---
I am using the DA200 Dell 4-in-1 adapter with a Dell XPS9350.

On Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 LTS using kernels 4.6.6, 4.7.x and 4.8.0 (from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/) I couldn't manage to get HDMI
output to any screen. VGA and the rest on this adapter work fine.

I resorted to the stock Xenial kernel (as of writing this) 4.4.0-38-generic and
I was able to get HDMI working on a 1680x1050 at 60Hz panel that I have here.
Haven't had the chance to test it with something with higher res yet.

I should also note that I have manually installed the skl_guc_ver6_1 i915
firmware.

I also tested the FC24 live image (uses 4.5.5 kernel IIRC) and that worked out
of the box too.

Seeing Jani's earlier answer that there is no proper usb type-c alternate mode
support yet, I am not sure exactly what's going on and why some older kernels
seem to work.
