I have seen this issue with the following kernels:

* 4.8.0
* 4.8.2 built with the patches linked above
* 4.9-rc1 built from the drm-intel-nightly branch (commit
5b633f423e27af3a7f30d303e243f5a2e82917ae)

Subjectively, it feels like the flickering became more common with the memory
workaround patches, but I've only been running them today, so that's a pretty
small sample.
