I have in my laptop:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960

Work-around: Adding i915.semaphores=1 as kernel parameter I can boot kernel
4.8.3.

System is a bit slow in some situations though. E.g. when switching to/from
text console there are still some backtraces logged:
