I will probably be able to do some more testing this weekend, so let me know if
additional debug output is needed, or whether there are any drm kernel test
builds to try, with relevant changes. (I omitted the Xorg output as that did
not seem to be of interest before, and since the system also produces no output
from the virtual terminal during boot)

To me it seems like the issue has been attempted to be worked around, since it
cannot be a coincidence that the 23.976Hz + 24.00Hz modes now work, perhaps due
to more lenient modevalidation for those?  If so is the case, one should be
able to implement these changes for the 'regular' 50+60Hz modes as well. Or
maybe I am being too optimistic..
