Summary: Screen remains black after opening lid on Asus T102HA
Product: DRI
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: medium
Component: DRM/Intel

System log (includes kernel log)
On Asus T102HA the display works at first, when I close the lid it turns off
but never turns back on when I open the lid. There is no backlight and I also
do not see anything displayed when looking at the screen under external
illumunation. This happens every time, with and without X running.
Backlight control (/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness) otherwise
works before this issue occurs, after this changing the brightness has no
visible effect.
This happens regardless of whether the keyboard is electrically attached via
its USB connection. It is possible to "close" the lid (keyboard) without
attaching it as the open/closed detection uses a different mechanism. The logs
attached are with the keyboard not attached as that avoids some USB related
spam.
Attached are:
- The system log, produced using drm.debug=0x1e . It includes kernel and Xorg
logs, and "Lid closed" and "Lid opened" from logind can also be seen.
- intel_reg dump --all
I could not dump VBIOS, I get Input/Output error when trying to "cat" the rom
and an error in dmesg (i915 0000:00:02.0: Invalid PCI ROM header signature:
expecting 0xaa55, got 0xa243).
Kernel version: 4.13.0-rc4
Distribution: NixOS (unstable)
