Hi! 
Problem installing both Debian and Ubintu on Intel i5-4460-based PC. 
The machine has been happily running fresh Ubuntu versions up to the summer of
2017. Then we experimented with some other distros and now wanted to return to
a major one. 

Debian has installed, but the installed system fails to boot into X, logging a
GPU HANG error, though with a different code. It has no console accessible at
this point, can't provide you with more details for Debian. 

X session setup crashloops for Ubuntu Live USB installer (tried both 16.04.03
LTS and 17.10 in "try Ubuntu" mode).
