I think sooner or later someone will finds out that the poll_work is not
running because of the patch you have mentioned and when it will get fixed we
(to be precise you) will have issues booting again.
I believe it is better to try to figure out the proper fix to avoid situations
like I have caused while fixing seemingly unrelated code.
