thanks for testing the patch. I still consider this as a workaround for a
driver bug in nuoveau/optimus. IMHO a better fix would be to change the way how
drm_kms_helper_poll_init() works: when called it would not enable the polling
as it does, but drivers would need to call poll_enable() if they want the
polling to be active.

Tomorrow I can create a hack patch for this on top of 4.10-rc2 if you are
willing to give it a try.

It is still awkward to wait with the work for 1 sec, it is better than the 10
sec, but still it does not feel right.

In any way, I will prepare this patch as well for sending as a quick
workaround.
