I just discovered that the workaround described in bug 93782, comment 40 also
solves the flip_done timout on my machine (kernel 4.9.5-100.fc24.x86_64). All
hangs are now gone and dmesg is clean.

Just add

video=SVIDEO-1:d

to the kernel command line and give it a try.
