Hi Tim,
I have been trying to reproduce the test as you did, but with this
configuration. 
Using a NUC-SKL Canyon with two monitors --one with 30Hz connected with HDMI
(ASUS), and other one 60Hz connected with DP (ACER).

I did the installation of the latest kernel and I have been using my system for
many hours but I was not be able to reproduce that behavior

Adding my general configuration and logs.

Could you be able to try with this configuration and share your comments?
