Hi, sorry, I haven't gotten a chance to try this lately, but I can say that it
at least no longer hangs the whole machine with the 4.9 kernel.  Additionally,
I've also gotten a Skylake Dell XPS 13, and it also has the same problems
detecting and setting the monitor's mode correctly.  Will try to find some time
to build drm-tip and give this another try soon.
