Bug ID: 101245
Summary: Haswell ULT max. resolution regression in KMS
Product: DRI
Version: XOrg git
Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: DRM/Intel
Assignee: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org

With a 4.8.17 kernel or earlier, console graphics is set (as expected) to
2560x1600 with HDMI connected to a suitable monitor.
# lspci|grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 09)
:With a 4.9.1 or later kernel, using a .config taken from a working
configuration, resolution is 1920x1200. When it is so set, this sequence of
commands, within a terminal window in an X session, does not effect any
increase in resolution:
# cvt 2560 1600
# 2560x1600 59.99 Hz (CVT 4.10MA) hsync: 99.46 kHz; pclk: 348.50 MHz
Modeline "2560x1600_60.00" 348.50 2560 2760 3032 3504 1600 1603 1609

# xrandr --newmode "2560x1600_60.00" 348.50 2560 2760 3032 3504 1600
1603 1609 1658 -hsync +vsync
# xrandr --addmode HDMI1 "2560x1600_60.00"
# xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 2560x1600_60.00 --verbose
