    This is causing massive problems on snb and haswell where after hibernate
we no
    longer service interrupts.

    It appears to be the root cause for the failures on the other shards too,
    so revert the entire merge for now to make things work correctly again.

this fix the issue. However, the bug should be open until a proper fix is
available.
