Bug ID: 107681
Summary: Graphics driver problem prevents normal boot - only
works in recovery mode
Product: DRI
Version: XOrg git
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: DRM/Intel
Assignee: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: jabog6 at yahoo.com
QA Contact: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
CC: intel-gfx-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
After installing ubuntu 18.04, unable to boot normally. Boot screen (with
"Ubuntu" logo) flickers, intermittent "checklist" flickers on screen, and
appears to be stuck (i.e. same messages repeat endlessly). Flicker is too
quick for my eyes to register what the messages are.
Tried several flavours of ubuntu, as well as linux mint, with the exact same
results.
Current workaround is to press shift key and boot in recovery mode. Everything
then boots normally. Have to do this at every boot.
