/sys/class/drm/card0/error just contains

  No error state collected

I'll attach the dmesg the next time the hang happens.

It might take a while though as I'm running drm-tip for the last two days and
the freezes occur much less often. I guess it's some kind of race condition and
the huge amount of debug output of drm-tip changes the timing enough that it's
much less likely to trigger.
