hello Elizabeth,

today i had again several freezes while watching the same HEVC video using
VLC3-git (vlc settings: opengl+vaapi)
i guess the freezes are always somewhow related to opengl and or vaapi as
avidemux caused a freeze as well in the past.

the following output appears always directly after booting kernel 4.14.14 and
may or may not be related:

as requested i have uploaded two files: output of dmesg with kernelparamters
drm.debug=0x1e log_bug_len=8M

i increased log_bug_len from =2M to =8M but there seems to be no difference
