some more things i already tried and which did not work:

* xrandr --output DSI-1 --off ; xrandr --output DSI-1 --auto
* xrandr --output DSI-1 --gamma 1:1:1
* xrandr --output DSI-1 --gamma 2.20:2.20:2.20
